A equipe do Planetário da UFG apresentará três trabalhos na área de Ensino de Astronomia, entre os dias 06 e 10 de agosto.
Diversos assuntos serão discutidos em:
- 4 palestras
- uma reunião plenária especial sobre lançamentos de laboratórios espaciais
- 6 simpósios sobre temáticas do Sistema Solar, evolução estelar e galáxias
- 16 grupos de discussão sobre diversas temáticas de Astrofísica, Astrometria, Mecânica Celeste e Radio-Astronomia
- 10 Sessões Especiais sobre diversas temáticas, tais como o IYA2009, educação astronômica, potencialidades de locais para a vida, a Astronomia na Antártida etc
- 3 eventos com almoço para as mulheres na Astronomia e os jovens astrônomos
71 países serão representados e com a participação de quase 13 mil pessoas.
O Brasil terá um dos maiores times de astrônomos, ao lado das maiores delegações: EUA, Alemanha, Reino Unido, França, Rússia, China, Espanha, Chile, Argentina, Austrália, Canadá, Itália, Japão e Holanda.
The next IAU General Assembly will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in August 3-14, 2009. The City of Rio de Janeiro is well-known for its breath taking scenery, surrounded by a lush rain forest and awesome granite mountains, complemented by beautiful beaches and a deep blue sea.
The weather is hot and tropical nearly all year round and slightly cooler during the months of June through August, when typical temperatures range from a chilly 18oC to a warmer 28oC. In addition, it is considered one of the world-wide prime destinations, particularly because of its exotic and vibrant culture and the warm hospitality of the "Cariocas" (the people from Rio).
Rio, however, is not only a prime tourist destination. The great concentration of scientific and technological activities also characterizes Rio as one of the most important centers in Brazil and Latin America. It is the place where the first Brazilian national observatory was established by the Emperor Dom Pedro I in 1827.
In the last decade Astronomy in Brazil has experienced major growth and development, together with significant participation in the International Astronomical Community, such as the Gemini and SOAR projects.
On behalf of the Brazilian Astronomical community, the National Organizing Committee of the XXVIIth IAU General Assembly warmly invites you to take part in this coming Assembly, which we hope will be very pleasant and of high scientific interest.
